The more than 3,000 page report<\/a>, produced by 278 authors across 65 countries, has shown that greenhouse gas emissions were at their highest level across all human history between 2010 and 2019. And while the annual rate of greenhouse gas growth has been declining, we\u2019re still nowhere near the goal of limiting warming below 1.5 degrees Celsius\u2014the crucial number set in the Paris Agreement in 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To reach the 1.5 degrees goal, global emissions must peak in 2025 at the absolute latest. In addition, carbon emissions must be cut in half and methane must be reduced by a third by 2030. This would require hitting net zero emissions by 2050. To keep warming below 2 degrees, net zero emissions must be hit by 2070.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
